Week 10 Asynchronous E - Learning Course

For the last task, in a group of 4, we were instructed to do design an asynchronous E - learning course using Google Applications.

Asynchronous learning refers to a variety form of digital and online learning where students learn by following instructions. For example, pre - recorded video and game based learning task that students complete on their own - that is not delivered by their teacher in person or in real time.

When designing this course, we did stumble upon a conflict in the beginning of the process. We had a big argument on who is supposed to be in the group. After 3 days of cold treatment and throwing razor sharped words to each other, we had came up with conclusion that being in the same group would be the best for all of us.

Conflict settled, we filled up the 'Analysis Phase Sheet' before developing the course. After consultation, our Lesson Plan was approved and we were ready to start developing.

For the course topic, my team had decided to teach Grammar with 11 year old/ Standard 5 students being our target audience.

For the lesson, we decided to cover on Singular & Plural Nouns and Interrogative Pronoun. For each of the sub topic, we had came up with a video that explains the proper usage of grammar that is easy for our students to understand.

We had also created a quiz for Interrogative Pronoun using Google Quiz and a game based learning task using an online game application called Kahoot! for the other sub topic, Singular & Plural Noun.

Each of the learning video are designed to be simple yet eye catching for our targeted audience. We had also included a variety of examples so that the students will be able to understand better. The audio of the videos are recorded by my team by ourselves. A voice recording that explains both of the subtopic in a simple and straight to the point manner.

These videos are short, entertaining and educational for kids!

The Interrogative Quiz consist of 10 questions. Before starting the quiz, students must type in their email address so that the teacher will be able to mark their grades. Each students are required to answer all questions. For our second sub - topic, we had came up with a quiz using an online learning game called Kahoot!. The game consist of 10 questions regarding Plural & Singular Nouns.

Online games help student develop computer and simulation fluency. This is crucial as we live in a world where technology is becoming essential to everyone's life.  Other than that, online game also helps students with fast strategic learning and problem solving skills.

Overall, we had fun in developing this course and had learn new things in trying to perfect this assignment. We hope that the video that we had uploaded on Youtube could help children understand English Grammar and realize that the English Language is not that hard nor complicated.

Below are the links to the videos and quizzes. Happy Learning!
