Podcast Review Week 6

Hi you guys! Welcome back to my blog. Since I've posted a thing or two on steps to make a podcast using audicity, I would be making a review on a podcast to do a little research on this matter.

The Podcast that I will be reviewing today is by the Azman sisters on Youtube called Weird and Wonderful Podcast. This podcast is made by Iman Azman and Amal Azman who is a sister duo who is known to touch on things that might be a little too sensitive for the malay society but is actually a real concern in Malaysia.

For this episode, they talk about the skin colour. Beauty standard in Malaysia can be really stressful especially for those who are dark - skinned and is not a size 4. Hopefully, today's society is more accepting to these tan queens compared to five years ago.

They also touched on ''beauty products'' that promotes skin bleaching that automatically sets a trend on young adults on being fair skinned is better than being naturally tan. The fact that people  associates skin  colour with beauty shows how society can be really tough and hurting to young children.

Other than that, the two emcees were really fluent in English and how the spoke was really natural. Due to the fact of how smooth the talked over this podcast, listening to this podcast can be really soothing.

However, the introduction song and outro were really short. However, due to the fact that they are so good in what they do and how much of a good content they had given in this podcast, such thing is not needed to make a listener stay.

I highly recommend you guys to check them out on youtube and give them a listen. Kindly click on the link that I've placed below if you want to check it out yourself.

Week 5 Podcast!

What is a podcast?

Why do we have it?

Provide information in a fun and entertaining way in a way it increases students' engagement
Extend student learning with critical links between content areas
Synthesize student learning
Communicate with community

What do you need to be podcasting?

An Audio/recording tools.
1. Online voice recorder
2. Or your smartphone

Audio editing tools.
1. Audacity
2. or any online audio editor (Bandlab)

This week, I explored a free application where you could just download online. All you have to do is just google 'Audacity' or click on the url below to get it.

Audacity is a free and open-source digital audio editor and recording application software, available for Windows, macOS, Linux, and other Unix-like operating systems.

First, you would have to record your podcast using a proper mic or maybe on your phone if you are on a budget. Then, get the recording in your computer for you to edit it on audacity.

This is how the app looks like. You would have to drag your audio in the app for it to be in it.

By using this app, you could eliminate all the unnecessary sound that you have in your audio. You could also add a few tracks to make your podcast interesting.

Week 4 Computer Mediated Communication

This week, we learned a really interesting topic and something really new to me.
Computer Mediated Communication

There are two types of CMC
a) Synchronous
b) Asynchronous

\\
CMC In Education
- It is started in the late 1980s and 1990s with the introduction of Communicative CALL
- Became globally widespread with the use of Email and Forums
- It is invented for long-distance teaching or learning
Advantages of CMC
- No distance barrier
- Mitigates time as a second barrier
- Make collaborations much easier
Disadvantages of CMC
- Inhibitions related to the use of technology
- Problems with access to technology
- lack of socio-emotional and nonverbal cues
- Lack of real human contact

CMC is one of the way we stay connected and communicate with the people all around the world. It is technically the platform that we use in order to deliver message, keep in touch with each other and make our life easier due to the existence of CMC.

CMC is a form of communication or interaction between two or more people via separate computers through network connection. It is also any communication patterns mediated through a computer.

On the other hand, CMC is also defined as a process through that people can interact, exchange perceive information, culture, thought, ideas, history, knowledge, mores and social issues with each other via computer medium networking by tools such as E-mails, Wikis, Chat room and many more.

Synchronous CMC is a communication between participants is synchronized, which messages can be exchanged and replied to immediately and it also allows for direct communication.

Asynchronous CMC is a communication is not synchronized, which messages are not exchanged and replied to immediately or not expected to. For instance, E-mails and most social medias.

The Future Me Week 3

For this week's class, we were all assigned to do a video based on what we would have achieved in the future, to be specific: where we will be at in the next five years in our lives. We used an online application called Powtoon.

Powtoon is a British company which sells cloud-based software for creating animated presentations and videos. Of course, you would have to pay/ subscribe to get access to the whole application however, the free version of it is also as awesome. You can go to the website by clicking the link below

First, you would have to log in or register if you're new to the application. I highly recommend registering by using your Facebook or Google for an easier process.

Second, you will be directed to a page as shown above, you can choose what type of template that you would like to use for your video.

Thirdly, if you would have to change the setting by clicking the 'create' button. If you wish to do in a presentation mode, please skip this part. Then, you would have to name your project based on what topic are you doing your video on. You can navigate through the video by going through the bar on the left side of the screen You could also add or deduct seconds on by clicking the + / - button at the bottom of the screen. Other than that, you will also be able to see how many item is in that particular part of the video by clicking the numbers at the bottom of the screen.

If you would like to change the background of the video, you can refer to the bar on the left side of the screen. You can also get fun pictures and animated stickers on your video. To edit, drag the stickers to your designated place. To change the size of the stickers, you would have to click and adjust it by moving your mouse according to the size that you want.

If you are feeling a little bit extra and would like to put your own picture in the video, you can do so by uploading your picture in the app.

For the writings, you would have to click on the box and a small bar will appear. By using this bar, you can change the way your alphabets looks and animate how your words will appear/ disappear in the screen.

Another interesting feature of this app is that if you want to put your own voice in the video, it is totally do - able. All you have to do is record it and upload it in the application. A variety of sounds are also available for free.

Once you are done with you video, don't forget to save it by clicking the 'save' button on the upper right side corner of the screen.

I've been exploring this app and this app is absolutely beginners' friendly.

Good luck and have fun on producing your own video
